Mission Statement

The California Association of Real Estate Appraisers is dedicated to assisting appraisers in all aspects of their practice. We are committed to advocating for the working appraiser for better fees, appraiser independence, combating lender pressure and coersion, restraint-of-trade issues, discriminatory hiring practices and representation to your national, state and local political officials.

C.A.R.E.A. is now part of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 521 in joining the country's largest labor organization which represents 1.8 million members. SEIU is a member of the Change to Win Federation and the Canadian Labor Council (CTW, CLC) which represents over 6.4 million members; including, but not limited to, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Hotel Employees Restaurant Employees, United Brotherhood of Carpenters, United Food and Commercial Workers, Laborers' International Union of North America and others. There are over 600,000 SEIU members in California working as homecare workers, nurses, medical assistants, janitors, psychologists, physicians, real estate appraisers and professionals of all type (public and private).

SEIU is the fastest-growing union in North America, and its membership is among the most diverse in the labor movement. Focused on uniting working professionals to improve their lives and services they provide, SEIU members are committed to making sure all work is valued and rewarded.
