Santa Clara Retirees Holiday Party

Dec. 9 ­- About 75 retirees, staff members and guests attended the annual Retired Member Holiday Party in San Jose on Wednesday. The sonorous Hawaiian music, wonderful holiday fare and the great "Big Ticket" and "White Elephant" drawing prizes were only surpassed by the warmth and sense of community that seemed to erupt from those who braved the arctic breezes to attend.



Assembly members Paul Fong and Jim Beall greeted the assembled guests with pledges to protect retiree benefits in 2010. Dominic Catalano, first elected president of Legacy Local 715 was on hand to supervise the festivities as was former Retired Member Committee (Legacy Local 715) Pearl Caldwell.

Once again a great time was had by all, and everyone present won at least one present, some came away with two or three gifts. Others, imbued with the holiday spirit gave away winning tickets to someone who had yet to win a gift. We even drew tickets for the magnificent centerpieces created by our Treasurer, Helene Lai. I think everyone left well fed and happy.
